Your points are surface level and your reviews are in my book not official. The character Artie is used for Plot he also helps her create dresses as she is starting her own line and she can not sew hundreds of dresses or even the garbage one that easily in one night. If you look more into the characters scenes and events in the movie you will see that it is far better and thought out than you think mate. I highly suggest you give it a rewatch and remove your own self centered eye and take a creative look at the movie.Higunner6Prije sat....Evil dalmatians. That's all. You can describe this movie with that.AngelSpiritFoxxPrije 3 satiThey could have just started the movie with her killing dalmatians ( or something dark), and go through her obsession for making a puppy furred coat. Something irredeemable, just a super dark movie. And maybe have her die by her obsession, that's she becomes too focused on one thing that it ends up killing her. Cruella was never pissed at the dogs. She didn't immediately cuddle them but we never see her obsess over "those damn dogs" she is pissed at the owner. She fucking adopts the dogs. It was so obvious that the dogs weren't at fault that it didn't even need to be addressed that she doesn't blame the animals who do not understand what they are doing. If you want to get technical, the actual "flaw" is that she manages to retrain them and adopt them with no issues (dogs becoming more docile when away from the Baroness) when in actuality there is no way to reform an attack dog and poor dears would probably have to be put down irl. But the movie is light hearted so ofc a bit of love is all it takes. No one wants to watch dogs dying. "So many outfits" "That no actual human being would ever wear" I mean, no actual dog would be able to act like a rat and pick pockets but like whatever? It is not meant to be super realistic anyways... But ok if it is not up your alley. "Male characters are all x, y and z" are they? most of them seemed quite nice to me. Especially Jasper. "That one male character never challenges his female superiors" you mean side character never overshadows the main characters...? Jasper was very much challenging Cruella. "The movie can't handle the double persona and Jasper stops caring about it even tho it made him uncomfortable, she hasn't learned to reign in her behavior" Well she isn't some simplified version of bipolar, it doesn't have multiple personalities, Estella/Cruella is just how she expresses herself; and Jasper lets it go because she DID learn how to reign in her behavior, she apologized and pretty much agreed to not cross the lines he set. He wasn't willing to work with a horrible murderer and she did not become a horrible murderer. He just accepted that she became more ambitious and a bit more of a shark. Which she NEEDED to become or the Baroness would have killed her. "She became like the woman she fought so hard to defeat" really? She, who didn't kill the woman who killed her mom and so many others but has instead sent her to jail for a crime she DID commit, is the same as an actual murderer? "She moved into her house and taken her servants" you mean she moved into HER house that HER DAD left her and she kept the people working there employed still? "Cruella teaches them they should act horribly" Not really? Movie literally beats you over the head saying "you may be sad but you can't be a dick to your friends about it". It honestly seems to be you're just pissed about some "feminist agenda" you think is trending now so you're plastering it everywhere, idk. It's a pity. And honestly I'd GET the issue of celebrating cruella at the end although she will become a puppy killer but- who the fuck actually thinks that will happen? Who, truly, thinks that Disney is planning to make a franchise about a puppy killer? Who thinks that Disney, in a Disney Movie remake, not something else that they own, is going to make Emma Stone scream for puppies to be brutally murdered? It won't happen. This Cruella is not a puppy killer and never will be. So the ending is not conflicting. She got justice for her mom, moved into her house and now can live with her friends and the London punk scene and do her thing. That's it. No dead puppies. If it actually happens and she in the future films starts killing puppies, or wanting to, I'll eat my hat. But it won't happen.Stefan MakaraPrije 22 sati@Little Birdy no, she isn't. See Maleficent. They are making an alternative storyline.Little BirdyPrije danSee "101 Dalmatians 1996". This is the main villian's (Cruella de Vill) origin story. She tripped somewhere in bush near where her mom and the Baroness was talking and somehow the Dalmatians ignored and left her and went for her mom instead and thats how she saw what happened. (Spoiler alert even if you're not planning to watch anyway) It was later revealed in the movie that the reason why the Dalmations ignored Cruella was because the Baroness commanded the dogs to target her mom instead.russischbrotPrije 3 danaWhen u said that her mother got killed by dogs, i was laughting so hard 🤣Paul SmithPrije 3 danaYou didn't even mention the soundtrack. Disney made $$$ from the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack using 70's tunes. Obviously they wanted to repeat that, so it's like after they cut the movie they said "how many pop songs can we fit in here?" and practically EVERY SCENE in the first 30 minutes has another tune blaring in the background. There's one scene where Emma Thompson screams "STOP!" and everyone and everything on screen goes still - but the music still is blaring. Cruella is an origin story of a villain; she's supposed to go from bad to worse, and she likely wasn't supposed to be anyone's role model. But I agree with everything else you said. Excellent video as always!BWMagusPrije 4 danaWhy didn't they just write Cruella like the step-mother from the Cinderella remake? She was a disturbing, manipulative, narcissist--they CAN do it, but...I guess it would have been too hard to make Cruella the focus and also the villain.burnedenPrije 4 danaI love your stuff Drinker but I think you're wrong on this one. I think it stems from the assumption that a film is/should be directed towards everyone. Which Cruella is not. While I do agree Cruella is a female empowerment video (and there are ways of doing it well in tandem like with your recent nostalgia of Zorro) it is not one at male expense. It's not Wonder Woman, Charlies Angles, Captain Marvel, Ghostbusters etc where it tries to go out of it's way to say Women > Men. Go Women. If Cruella did this the baroness would have been a man. This is a film mostly absent men. I look at it in the same vein a woman would look at a 80s action flick. While they don't (for the most part) demean women, they quite certainly don't focus on them and are usually just something to save or in the way. Women aren't the target. Cruella is no different. If anything its a middle finger to "normal", be it a man or woman, or establishment (ironic coming from Disney). Being different should be celebrated, and among the woke film, and rehashed crap being rolled out, I think this is a step in the right direction and should be celebrated.ComicCribPrije 4 danaWhat’s the song at 1:10james jessPrije 4 danaI have feelings that people are just gonna look past the fact that cruella is a horrible person who threatened a couple and then kidnapped their puppies to skin them and turn them into coats, but it's fine she's an ambitious strong female character she can do whatever she wants.Kirkland BrownPrije 4 danaApparently this movie was based on the real cruella book by doddie smith in 1956Paulo PauloPrije 4 dana1:35 hold up, did they unironically have her do the Fresh Prince thing to make her look cool? I think because the people in the industry have become so amoral and corrupt that they relate to the villains more than the heroes, or just can't bring themselves to admit to the existence of evil in the world other than orange man bad stuff. And it isn't just Disney doing this either, look at the play Wicked, it makes the Wizard of Oz and Glenda into the bad guys and the wicked witch their victim.Daniel WilliamsonPrije 4 danaCruella Deville looks more like Harley Quinn in this movie.Moonjumper Reviews: Who Cares What I Think!?Prije 4 danaI'm with you on "2010: The Year We Make Contact" - a great film. Respectfully, I disagree with you on this one. I enjoyed the hell out of "Cruella." I had a great time at the theater (here, in Texas, we can actually go to theaters!) and I loved it! Part "Once Upon a Time" (the TV show), part "The Devil Wears Prada" (same writer, in fact!!), and primarily, first and foremost, a heist film (I love heist films). Indeed, what I love most about "Cruella" is that you could easily remove the names associated with the various Disney characters, and it would absolutely work independently as a comedic, fashionista heist film. I loved it. I do agree that it's not a good comparison with "Joker" or even "Maleficent," but not for the same reasons you give. "Joker" is *technically* a good film, it's well written, well executed, but I didn't enjoy it. "Maleficent" is a sort of okay film, but I didn't care much for it either. What both of those films share in common is that they are both dark and dreary origin stories for a villain with virtually no sense of humor--particularly damning for "Joker" (how do you do a Joker movie with no jokes, no sense of humor?). "Cruella" has a lively sense of humor on top of being well written and well executed. I enjoyed it. But that's just me.Bartosz PlenznerPrije 4 danaIf you want a more relatable Cruella go watch Meryl Streep in "Devil wears Prada"Bond DudePrije 4 danaSo many Freemason Illuminati secret society symbology here in this film. I used to enjoy your content and I agreed with what you had to say about Charlie’s Angels, but now I think you go the extra mile to push an anti female agenda in cinema. Personally I don’t think you understood the way the two main male characters were treated in this film. the baroness displayed certain characteristics towards her peers, she thought their value was derived from their use and without that, are worthless. This is clearly paralleled with Cruellas treatment of her male friends (which ties in perfectly with the fact that she is baronesses daughter) and they were openly upset with this, but decided their love as a family for cruella/estella was enough to persevere, even if blindly. They weren’t stupid, but were well respected, and could pull off elaborate heists. So no, they weren’t stupid or useless. It’s almost ironic how men are treated in this film how many women have been treated for decades in cinema, not without respect but in the background of a female led film, and you immediately are vexed. It’s a bit pathetic reallyStefan MakaraPrije 2 danaThin veil? Try transparent.nolessPrije 3 dana@Ben Chadwick When were women treated like this? It would not make sense for cruella to make a dress with fake Dalmatian fur, and then later want to kill a bunch to make another. I like to think of it where if the Baroness kept cruella she would be the one in 101 Dalmatians and if she didn’t then she would be the cruella in the live action. I know this is not actually what happens in 101 Dalmatians, but it doesn’t make sense for this movie to be an origin story and this makes more sense to meDavid HarrisonPrije 5 danaFashion designers are so powerful that they can orchestrate murders.... just like in ZoolanderPhamBoiXDTVYTPrije 5 danaIt sounds extremely mediocrefred garvinPrije 5 danaDrinker, could you please review the 1976 Sci Fi classic Logans Run? That shit went woke very quickly. The main Character Danny Rand (Iron Fist) who is around the age of 28, was made into a petulant child. Basically all all the men in the show are emotionally unstable with deep seeded issues, while all the women are cool, collect and always in control of their fears and anger. Until this movie we knew nothing about Cruella's history or what drove to her becoming a villain. Cruella DeVil is an over the top diva in her own right so to compare her with other cinema villains is absurd. Hats off to Disney for finally creating a gay character in Artie who is a fan favourite already and welcomed by the LGBTQ+ community who have been waiting for Disney to acknowledge that gay men do exist. Which of course caused homophobic scumbag conservatives to lose their minds. Wonderful! This movie hasn't even introduced Cruella's husband either and I suspect he will be introduced in the sequel and if the films stay true to Disney canon then we may get to meet Cruella's son Carlos who is part of the Descendants movie franchise which is about the children of Disney villains.FC3692230Prije 6 danaActually I found the movie ok, with the costume design just mindblowing.
